Titel: Mein EZ Fletch ist hier.... Ich brauche etwas Klebe for carbon pfeil....
Beitrag von: alex321 am Juli 10, 2014, 22:40:41
Hello...

I pick my EZ fletch up at the weekend... Its going to be so fast to fletch arrows now......  :pfeif:

I will be making wooden arrows in the future, its just I have some Beman Juniors to refletch first.

I would like to buy Uhu, because its at Kaufland and I can buy it tmrw...

I have read UHU Kraft  or Hart are both good for fletching on to wood, but not carbon.

UHU Superglue Gel is good for inserts and nocks in carbon.

However, which glue is best for feather and carbon?  I guess it must be quite thick and glue not to quick, as I must glue 3 feathers first before closing the device...  Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Alex
Ps I heard that Gorilla Super glue is ideal, but where to buy in Germany...

Dear Hans,

Thanks for the response.  How do you find the drying time for fletching?  It says from 15 mins, do you find this to be the case?

I have looked at the super glues, but I do not think a few second before drying is enough.  I would like something that gives me a minute to glue all the feathers and is dry enough for me to remove the fletching jig in 5mins...  I would not shoot them for 24 hrs...Or maybe that is urealistic?...

I liked the thought of this flexing glue, which I think would withstand the arrow impacts well... when I miss and hit a tree... :)

I like to buy Bearpaw producs, because its German.  However, I always have to add 6 Euros for postage....  UHU is German and Kaufland is just down the road..... This is what I call ethical shopping... Must tell the girlfiend. :)

i prefere cheap super glues. not gel. the liquide ones.
really quick. 20 seconds curing time per feather.
really cheap and hold up perfectly.

Thanks Fidi,

I just don't think I have the dexterity to use sekudenkleber.  Its so unforgiving and I need to put glue on all 3 feathers before I close the device and they stick to the arrow.  I wodered if superglue would be dry before I close the device.

Anyway,
I have bought UHU Kraft, but confusingly there were two different types.  One says "transparent" and the other said "ohne loesemittel."  I guessed and picked the first.

I also bought Uhu Hart, because it was there and holds fast in 2 mins, in comparison to the 10 mins for Kraft.  I will try both and see what happens.

Thank you everyone for your help...
Good Luck Sunday!
Alex

I've been using Uhu Hart in the past, but i've tried Uhu Sekundenkleber Gel on my last arrows and i really like it. The feather can still be moved for a few seconds and it dries within 30 seconds, if you breathe on it to get some moisture to activate the glue. I can finish 2 arrows in the same time it takes one feather to dry with Uhu Hart. And the glue stays where i put it. On the feather, not my fingers.

Thank everyon for their kind words of advice...

Well, I fletched 3 arrows about a week ago.  It was so easy with this device.  However, I have learnt a few things about making arrows already...

Carbon arrows do not fly well in low poundage, low draw weight selfbows.... Woods bareshaft much better and less noisy.
UHU Kraft works well on feathers and carbon.
Must solve feathers cutting into me hand problem.  A blob of Kraft glue is not ideal. I have to use a lot.
EZ fletch is very quick and easy, but the helical twist is not very much in comparison to my Onkel Tom wood arrows.
It is not possible to get an extreme helical twist arms for EZ feltch which work on feathers... you can get them for vanes though.
I must place the nocks at 90 degrees to the grain on wooden shafts... I am correcting that little error from last night.... Fortunately I only glued 6 nocks :)
Assembling wooden arrows is not as bad as expected... I might even learn to enjoy.

Cheers
Alex
